Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can severe Swelling And Pain In The Knee Be Treated?
Last night I experienced a sharp, needle prick type pain in my right knee, without swelling, that kept me up the entire night. It doesn t hurt when I get up and walk around, only when I lay down to sleep. There was also a pea sized raised area about in the center of the knee cap which could be moved around and was soft, pliable to the touch, but is gone now.
It looks like a minor meniscal tear & i would suggest you to get an mri knee done if pain is excruciating or if you are a sportsperson.& restrict sudden jerky movements & avoid posture in which the pain is more.as minor tears will get healed on their own by physiological mechnism. take tolydol 37.5 mg twice a day for the pain.
